Messy Hair Bun. Well in the photo above, it doesn’t really look that messy does it? It kinda looks bohemian or gypsy fashion for me. That up do could also change if you put a different hair accessory to it. For example if you put a floral tiara, this hair bun can be a perfect look for your spring dress or for that ultimate weekend at the beach house.

If ever you decided to go bare with it but added some chandelier earrings, or some studded choker or any extravagant necklace and that breath taking gown, you’ll surely be the star of that night. So what I’m simply saying is that this Messy Hair Bun can be versatile for any look. It is perfect of any day or night occasion.

So, keep reading to learn how to make this versatile messy hair bun.

In this step-by-step tutorial, you won’t be needing any fancy stuff because doing this hair bun is so easy and simple to do. All you need is the basic hair stuff, which I’m sure every girl has. To start off, you’ll be needing a brush, a teezing comb (rat tail comb), elastic bands, bobby pins (that match your hair color of course) and lastly to decorate your hair, you could add some head bands, ribbons, tiaras etc.

Step 1 – Brush the hair to make sure there are no tangles. Tie the hair up to make a high messy pony tail.

Step 2 – Loosen the pony tail a little bit and you can now add the head band if you decided to have one. Pull out some hair using the end of the teezing comb (rat rail comb) to make it appear more ‘poofier’ and volumized.

Step 3 – Grab a section of the pony tail, like 2 inches I would say. Then teez that section using your teezing comb/brush. After teezing, roll that section inwards and attach it to the hair and pin it with a bobby pin. (If there’s some hair that sticks out, it’s fine since this is a “Messy Hair Bun”)

Step 4 - Get another section of the hair and do the same. Teez it first then roll it inwards towards the base of the ponytail. Do the same process with the other sections of the pony tail. But for the back part, you kind of have to roll it under itself.

Step 5 – Once you’ve teezed and rolled all the sections of the ponytail, the look is finally done! You can smoothen the look with some touch of hairspray but if you prefer it to be a really messy look, then let it be that messy.

So there you have it! Messy Hair Bun in 5 easy steps! No curling iron required, No volume mousse needed. Just some elastic bands, brush, rat tail comb and some bobby pins.

This look is also perfect if you’re just wearing laid back outfits like denim jeans, shorts, pedals, or skirts. It could also be your hair up do for that romantic dinner date, girls’ lunch out or any day event. I told you, it’s a versatile hair bun.
